Māngere Mountain is a sacred Māori volcanic cone reserve where a light-touch landscape project improved visitor access and interpretation. Completed in 2022, it involved minimal interventions to honor ancestral land. Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate was employed for new walking paths and lookout areas on the mountain’s slopes. These subtle trails provide stable footing up steep grades while remaining permeable to rain, protecting archaeological features with shallow installation.
