The Gateway

Arch

The Gateway Arch grounds in St. Louis underwent a landmark redesign (completed 2018) to better connect the monument to downtown and the Mississippi River. Organic-Lock Stabilized Aggregate was used across roughly 90,000 square feet of new pedestrian pathways on the Arch grounds. These stabilized aggregate paths create a natural, light-colored walking surface through the lawns and event spaces, honoring the historic landscape palette while providing modern accessibility. The permeable paths help manage stormwater on the riverfront site and require minimal maintenance, contributing to the project’s sustainable design which earned national recognition.
